The Village of Bible Hill was incorporated in 1953, and today with a population of 5,000, remains a residential  community. Although 22 villages are located throughout Nova Scotia, Bible Hill and Tatamagouche are the only two situated in Colchester County.

Mostly widely known in Bible Hill is the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, established in 1885. The NSAC occupies a large area in the Village with its campus, test gardens, and fields.

Matthew Archibald an early resident of Bible Hill used the Bible regularly. It was the only book in his home, his constant companion. His use of the Bible, his manner, and his house on the hill all added to the people calling the area "Bible Hill" but mainly not to his face. The Archibald’s didn’t acknowledge the name or show it until after Joseph Howe mentioned on a visit to the David Archibald home that he was in Bible Hill. While most had called it, "The Hill," the name stuck and has remained to this date.
