In 1970, the Blueberry Producers' Association of Nova Scotia began with a group of twelve interested growers. In 1975, it was officially registered with the Registry of Joint Stock Companies, as the Blueberry Producers' Association of Nova Scotia. In 1994, the word "Wild" was added to the official association name.

Today, with more than 1,000 members around the province, these growers manage in excess of 38,000 acres for the production of wild blueberries !

The wild blueberry is Nova Scotia's Provincial Berry. Over 1000 wild blueberry growers are members of the Wild Blueberry Producers Association of Nova Scotia (WBPANS). The growers manage an estimated 38,000 acres for the production of wild blueberries. Wild Blueberries are the number one fruit crop in terms of export sales and value to the economy in Nova Scotia.

Wild blueberries are a nutritious treat that is a good source of Vitamin C and dietary fiber. There is no fat, sodium or cholesterol and only 80 calories per cup of berries.
